Men's Squash Wins Three Matches at Navy Invitational, Defeats Washington at Home

Colonials Win Four Consecutive Matches, Improve to 5-1 on the Year

WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington men's squash continued their 2007-2008 season with three wins at the Navy Squash Invitational and a win at home against Washington. The Colonials, playing under first-year Head Coach Wendy Lawrence, have now won four matches in a row and are 5-1 overall.

At the Navy Squash Invitational, held over the weekend in Annapolis, MD., GW won all three of their matches, including a 5-4 upset of Stanford, who finished No. 21 in last year's College Squash Association's final rankings. The Colonials also recorded wins over No. 35 Columbia, 6-3, and No. 32 Vanderbilt, 9-0.

Freshman Nick Gross and senior Stefan Georg were the only members of the team that recorded wins in all three matches at the tournament.

On Monday, GW hosted the University of Washington at the Lerner Health and Wellness Center. The Colonials cruised past the Huskies, 9-0, for their second home win of the young season.

George Washington men's squash takes the next two weekends off before traveling to Middletown, CT, to participate in the Wesleyan Tournament. They face St. Lawrence Friday, Nov. 30, at 6:00 p.m., and then on Sunday they square off against host-school Wesleyan at 10:00 a.m. and Connecticut College at 1:00 p.m.
