Women's Squash Finishes Season at Howe Cup

Feb. 20, 2007

NEW HAVEN, CT - The George Washington women's squash team ended their 2007 season at the Howe Cup, the College Squash Association's team championship, held on Yale's campus in New Haven, CT. The Colonials took third in the Epps Cup (an eight-team D Division) and finished the year ranked 27th nationally.

GW began play in the tournament on Friday with a 9-0 win over Columbia. On Saturday, the Colonials suffered a heartbreaking 5-4 loss to St. Lawrence University in the semi-finals of the Epps Cup. SLU went on to win the division.

The loss to St. Lawrence meant that GW would have to face off against Smith College on Sunday. The match determined third place and the Colonials dominated it as they downed Smith by a final of 8-1.

Princeton defeated Harvard 6-3 in the CSA National Championship.

GW sophomore Rachael Rayfield is set to compete in the CSA Individual Championships held on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania from Mar. 2-4.
